Drowning on Cedar Lake 7/31/19 4351-19

Wednesday July 31, 2019 at approximately 14:44 hours.

Location:

29000 block of Shaw Road, Cedar Lake, Porter Township, Van Buren County

Narrative:

Sheriff Daniel E Abbott reports that on 07/31/2019 at approximately 14:44 hours deputies were dispatched to the 29000 block of Shaw road reference a male in Cedar Lake who was in distress. A resident whom lives on Cedar Lake saw a boat going in circles and the victim in distress in the water yelling for help. The resident called 911 and attempted to help the victim but was unable to reach him. Emergency responders arrived on scene along with relatives of the victim whom were boating on the lake and the victim was pulled from the water and was not breathing. Life-saving measures were attempted but the victim was later pronounced deceased at Bronson Lakeview Hospital in Kalamazoo. It is believed the victim had suffered a medical condition and fell out of the boat. The victim was alone in the boat at the time of incident. Nothing suspicious is suspected at this time and Deputies continue to investigate the incident.
