Personal Injury Crash 8099-18 12/22/18

Nature of Incident:

One car personal injury accident.

Date & Time:   12/22/2018 at approximately 0246 hours

Location:

39th St/76th ave, Decatur Township, Van Buren County, Michigan

Suspect/Driver:

19 y/o male from Berrien Springs

Passenger:

20 y/o male from Berrien Springs

Narrative:

Sheriff Daniel E. Abbott reports on the date of 12/22/2018 Van Buren County Deputies and the below assisting agencies were dispatched to the above location on the report of a single vehicle accident with the vehicle on fire. When Deputies arrived, they located the above driver and passenger of the vehicle. The driver was transported to Borgess Lee Memorial Hospital in Dowagiac MI with non-life threatening injures and the passenger was released on the scene with no injuries. It appears the vehicle left the roadway, hit a tree head on and came back into the roadway where it then caught on fire. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the accident and charges may be sought at a later date after lab results completed.
