Moving violation causing serious impairment

Sheriff Daniel E. Abbott reports that Robert Samuel Rawson was arraigned in District Court for charges of Moving violation causing serious impairment. Robert Rawson was involved in a Traffic Crash with a Horse and Buggy on September 11th, 2018 in the area of 46th Street near County Road 388.

Two vehicle personal injury accident

09/11/2018 at approximately 1042 hours


46th St. & County Road 388, Bloomingdale Township

Vehicles involved:

Vehicle 1) 1996 Ford Econoline 150 Van, silver in color

Vehicle 2) Horse drawn buggy


59 year old white male from the Grand Junction area.


67 year old white male from the Bloomingdale area.


Pending further investigation.


Sheriff Daniel E. Abbott reports deputies responded to the area of 46th St. and County Road 388 for a van versus horse drawn buggy personal injury accident. Deputies arrived on scene and found that a van was traveling south on 46th St. south of County Road 388, crossed the center line and collided head on with a north bound horse drawn buggy, killing the horse on impact and ejecting the driver of the buggy. The driver of the van reported no injuries. The driver of the horse drawn buggy sustained serious injuries and was transported to Bronson Methodist Hospital by Life EMS. Alcohol and/or narcotics are not believed to be involved. This incident remains open pending further investigation.
