Suspect (s)

47yr old male from Lawton

40yr old male from Galesburg

Vehicles:  Black 1994 Suzuki Sport-bike and a Blue 2002 Yamaha Sport-Bike

Injuries:

One suspect obtained abrasions from low-siding his sport bike in gravel.

Narrative:

Sheriff Daniel E. Abbott reports that on Friday June 29th, 2018 A deputy from the Van Buren County Traffic Division attempted to conduct a traffic stop for a plate violation on a black sport bike that was traveling with three other motorcycles.  Upon turning around three of the four motorcycles increased acceleration and began to flee from the deputy.  With lights and siren activated the deputy engaged in a pursuit that continued into Antwerp Twp. After short pursuit one bike had wiped out at the dead end of 30th St and the suspect fled on foot and was later apprehended after a K-9 track that was conducted by Sheriff’s Office K9 and MSP K9 unit.  The other suspect had attempted to drive through a field where he ran into a fence.  He fled on foot and was apprehended after a short foot pursuit.  Both suspects had suspended licenses.  Neither bike was properly registered or plated, and neither driver had a cycle endorsement.  Both suspects were/will be lodged at the Van Buren County Jail after medical treatment on multiple charges related to this incident.
