Missing 2 year old boy - LOCATED 6/20/18


Missing 2 year Old Child, male- (HAS BEEN LOCATED)


Wednesday June 20,2018 at approximately 0825 am


40,000 block M-43, Paw Paw, Waverly Township, Van Buren County




Sheriff Daniel Abbott reports that on Wednesday June 20, 2018 at approximately 08:25 am Van Buren County Central Dispatch received a 911 call reporting that a 2 Year Old Male child was missing from his residence in the 40,000 Block of M-43, Waverly Township.

Upon arrival it was determined that the 2 year old was able to open a front door to the residence allowing him access to the outside. The child’s tricycle was located a considerable distance down the driveway. Deputies were also advised that the families 1 year old Pit Bull-Mix was gone as well, and is believed to have been with the child. Deputies were advised that the child was wearing a grey T-shirt and Diapers only. Deputies were advised that there was a 2 hour gap from when the child was last observed. The particular area where the child was last observed is extremely rural with multiple water sources, woods and swamp.

Van Buren County K9 Teams were called to the scene. Sheriff Abbott was able to locate footwear and Dog print impressions in a field. The Sheriff and K9 Teams were able to track the child where the child was located with the family dog who was at his side in a heavy wooded area, approximately 2 Miles from the residence. The Child was found to be in good health other than Multiple Bug Bites. The child was treated medically by EMS personnel on scene.
