Sheriff Daniel Abbott reports that Van Buren County Deputies responded to an address in the 200 block of North Van Buren St in the Village of Bloomingdale reference a strange smell coming from a residence. When Deputies arrived on scene they could smell what appeared to be burned methamphetamine coming from the home. When contacting the residents of the home, Deputies learned that 2 additional subjects were in a back bedroom of the home. An investigation found that the two subjects in the back bedroom had recently smoked methamphetamine and were found to be in possession of additional crystal methamphetamine and drug equipment. The primary suspect who was identified as Christopher Taylor of Martin Tennessee, was found to be a wanted fugitive who had fled the state of Tennessee to avoid prosecution. Taylor was arrested on the felony warrant that had a nationwide extradition and no bond. Taylor was lodged at the Van Buren County Jail. The 44-year-old female who was also in possession of methamphetamine was removed from the scene and turned over to a family member pending an investigation into the seized drug evidence. Upon the completion of the investigation, the report will be forwarded to the Van Buren County Prosecutor’s Office for charges on both Taylor and the 43-year-old female from Saint Joseph Michigan.
