INFORMATION:   Sheriff Daniel Abbott reports that on 8/11/2016, at approx. 8:50AM, deputies were dispatched to 04237 CR 687; the Phoenix Quick-Stop, for a reported Armed Robbery.   While deputies were responding, the victim and witnesses reported that the suspect fled the scene, traveling southbound on CR 687 in and older, Black Chevrolet Impala.  This vehicle shows damage to the right front end, has tinted windows, and an unknown Michigan registration plate.   Van Buren County Deputies converged on the area, as well as officers from the Michigan State Police, South Haven City Police, and several detectives in unmarked vehicles but were unable to locate the suspect vehicle.

METHOD OF OPERATION:   The suspect drove into the parking lot, and entered via the front door of the business.  The subject was wearing dark blue trousers, black shoes, a light blue hooded sweatshirt, a ball cap with a camo pattern on the brim, and some type of black mask on the lower half of his face.  The subject pointed a semi-automatic handgun at the victim, and demanded cash from the cash registers.  When the victim refused, the subject walked around the counter, still pointing the weapon at the victim, and demanded the registers be opened.  The victim complied, and the subject pulled the bills from the registers, stuffing the cash into his pockets.

The victim fled around the counter, then out the front door when the suspect became distracted by taking the money from the tills.  The suspect gave chase, but gave up, and left in his vehicle when the victim began screaming, which attracted attention from the neighbors.  The subject got into the above described vehicle, then drove out of the parking lot southbound onto CR 687.  The vehicle was last seen southbound on CR 687.
