66000 blk of County Road 388, Geneva Twp Van Buren County  

Suspect 1:   

56 year old male from Geneva Twp, MI (Name withheld pending arraignment)

Information: 

Sheriff Daniel Abbott reports that Van Buren County Deputies responded to an address in the 66000 blk of CR 388 in Geneva Twp after a pickup truck crashed into a residence and was attempting to flee the scene.  The driver and truck were gone prior to deputies’ arrival, but after investigation, both were located in the area.  It was discovered that the 56 year old male driver was intoxicated and fell asleep behind the wheel as he passed his own home, driving through a stop sign and intersection before leaving the roadway and crashing into the unsuspecting victim’s home.  The elderly home owners were thankfully uninjured in this case.  The driver was subsequently arrested for Operating While Intoxicated and lodged at the Van Buren County Jail.  A copy of the report will be forwarded to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for review.
