Narrative:

Sheriff Daniel E Abbott reports that Van Buren County Uniform Response and Marine Patrol Deputies initially responded to Little Crooked Lake for a report of possible minors drinking on a watercraft .  The caller had stated that numerous people on the watercraft were consuming alcoholic beverages as well as drinking out of a “Beer Bong”.  Deputies requested Marine Patrol Deputies to the lake with a patrol boat.  When launching the patrol boat, the suspect boat passed the launch and observed the deputies.  The suspect boat immediately turned towards the opposite side of the lake attempting to reach shore, but deputies caught up to the boat and made contact the occupants.  After a brief investigation, it was determined that 6 of the occupants were under 21 years old and had consumed alcoholic beverages. The operator of the boat was not intoxicated.  All suspects were issued Misdemeanor Citations for Minor in Possession of Alcohol by Consumption and released to family members.
