Nature of Incident:   Personal Injury Traffic Crash

Incident #:      6453-17

Date & Time:    Monday November 20th, 2017 at approximately 1400 Hours

Location:        44000 Block of County Road 215, Arlington Township, Van Buren County, Michigan  

Victim:            31-year-old female from Mattawan, Michigan

Narrative:      Sheriff Daniel E. Abbott reports that on Monday, November 20th, 2017 at approximately 2:00 pm, Van Buren Central Dispatch was notified by a passerby that a vehicle  had crashed into a tree on County Road 215, just south of 44th Ave, in Arlington Township.  Van Buren County Deputies arrived on scene to find a lone female, unconscious and entrapped inside the vehicle, which had left the roadway, and crashed on its side into a tree.   County Road 215 was closed between 44th and 48th Avenues while rescue crews worked to extricate the driver.  She was air lifted to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo with severe head trauma.  Deputies believe the driver was distracted during the time of the crash. No further information is available at this time and the incident remains under investigation.
